Design Comes Together.

At a late day meeting the tech team all joined to make the final design decision.

After much deliberation we took the many drawings of homes and cityscapes to come up with a design that works from the front and back.

We used a road to divide the mosaic in half and create a way to design both up and down. This way weather you are entering or leaving the building the mosaic will look great.

We used images of all the partnering groups buildings- Craigdarroch Care home, Grace Lutheran Church, the Fire Hall and of course the school itself. We then interspersed the mosaic with images from the area's past such as an old trolley car, horses and the old cabbage field that used to flank the school.

We got our first look at the tile to be used and all the colors we had to work with. They are specialized unglazed tile, made for pools and other heavy traffic areas. If this type of tile is accidentally chipped it will not show as the tile is colored all the way through . Perfect for the high traffic area this mosaic will be going.

Len measures the area for the border to be sure there is enough space left.

Donna Beachman is so happy to be placing the first tiles on the board. What a great feeling! So much work, and now the mosaic is being started.

Elizabeth and Gordon worked hard to get the design drawn on the boards.

Liz worked on the design of the castle- man it looks great!

It was very exciting for all of us to see the project coming together.
