Feb 18th - Building Looking Great
:)
Good workshop today.
We had hoped for a few more parents, but we did get one mom stop
by and hang out for a while today.

All the students have now seen the Mosaic the City
website. Seeing themselves in the journals has stirred up some new
motivation to write. It will be great to see what comes through
the students writing :)

So the biggest change to the project is now that the two sides
of the mosaic have become one. The school board decided to cut the
floor and make the mosaic one large piece.
"Mr. Piercy our Tech Ed teacher was instrumental
in helping us to get our Mosaic into one whole and unified piece.
We had just the two recessed mat holes to work in measuring at 291/4"
X 60" each."

"As you can see in between these two holes there is approximately
a one-foot piece of terrazzo in between the two holes.
One of our design delemas was all about how we were to overcome
this break in our Unity Image. Mr. Piercy is a skilled craftsman,
artist and draftsman and he suggested we call the School Board Carpenters
out again and see if they could take a diamond bit cutter and cut
out the Terrazzo to help to make it one unified whole piece."

"Mr. Piercy took a rendered drawing he had
created from an earlier wood project he had created and fit the
image into the existing "hole". Now our School is indeed
in one whole and unified piece. We couldn't celebrate our School's
50th Anniversary without the complete and unified image! Thanks
for all that you do in our school Mr. Piercy and helping to make
the Final Mosaic uniquely whole! "

This created the opportunity to build a fine looking
school. Mr. Piercy will be designing the new school to go in the
middle of the mosaic. It should look great.

We all worked hard to get as much mosaicking down
today as possible. Only a few workshops left!!!

Remember these Community Unity projects are all about
having fun and even about looking funny. These goggles are hilarious.
Thanks for the picture Ms. Adolph. :)

The project's paper mosaic thank you cards are
still underway. They are looking amazing and everyone has put so
much love into these. Thanks gang!!
Special Soup Lunch
For Project Leaders

Today after the workshop we had a leader meeting
to discuss the new bigger mosaic. To get a sense of how everyone
was feeling and to share some homemade grub. Ms. Beacham made some
lovely soup- sooo good- I really must get the recipes.
Len talked about our ability to have dissention
in the project. How the leaders are able to take unavoidable changes
and differences and make them work.
Great Team Work Everyone :)
We get a
French Class Visit

This afternoon one of Mr. Levesques French classes
came to see about the project.
Ms. B and some of the enrichment students explained all about Community
Unity and what this particular project is all about.

Then the class visited the Mosaic the City website
and the mosaic project itself. It was great to get another 20 or
so students excited about their school's Community Unity.
