Youth Volunteers, Pia and Heidi ,joined me this day to help get Mosaic the City moved out of my studio and to the Fernwood Community Association. This is a huge job as the donations of ceramics and tile to Mosaic the City, keep coming in. We have enough materials to do many mosaics. My studio has actually been overtaken by the donations, so it will be nice to have the space again.

Once at the FCA, we started working on the project. Heidi worked on drawing out the large-scale silhouettes for the wall mosaics. She really did a great job sketching out the ideas we gained from the community design workshops. We decided to make five mosaics for the wall: A man under a tree reading a book; a girl on a skateboard; a man walking a dog, a dude playing a guitar, and a lady with her two children.

In the mean time Pia and I worked on organizing all the tiles. Figuring out which tiles would work for which mosaic. We also needed to go through the many boxes of donations to see just what people had given us.

It was a super hot summer day, and after a few hours we were all done.
