Cementing Quadra's Community ... A MtC Project
What a turning point! So exciting to get the design sketched onto the cement boards. Chalk dust was flying along with our imaginations. Some trial and error with the school, aligning the roads etc. Great to see john down on his knees using chalk & felts along with us. Jes
I hadn't been quite as in touch with the design
plan as I wanted so when I found out what was happening it hit me!
This is really happening - her and NOW! The design is wonderful
in that it honors the history of the school AND the art of the students.
When we started adding color to the panels, it really came together
Wow I had on idea how much planning goes into making mosaic. This has been a positive experience so far and will continue to be to the end. It has been a joy getting to collaborate wit h my colleagues and see how creative we all can be. I'm getting more and more excited after each meeting, seeing the idea and colors come to life and take shape - Nicole

The whole program has been a great experience. I'm amazed how well its has come together being that its such a major undertaking. Everyone has done a super job; even through we're not even finished. It is going to look awesome. Sharon.
I've been hearing a lot about the mosaic project but this is the first time I saw the team in action. Everyone seems to work so well together. I had no idea how the mosaic was going to be put into the school but now it makes sense. The children will love to work on this and be part of it all. It is very exciting I can't wait to come and help fill it in. Ya Great Project - Syndi Baker
Beware when filming; dust in your camera can be a problem.
Today was great. A few new faces and lots of fresh energy.

Before we got to the board cutting we needed to double check all the measurements, so Mark - the wonderful custodian stepped up to the task.

I think my picture should be in the mosaic. I think this because my drawing is Quadra School. I chose Quadra School as my symbol. I did this because the mosaic is about the Quadra community

We only got one board cut, but everyone pitched in. It's great to see it all coming together and everyone learning the whole process.
Just as I predicted we stayed well past the last
hour - once the mosaicking starts, it's almost impossible to pull
everyone away. Shylene
