May 6th
We all arrived early to set up the rooms and they looks great. We used both rooms in the annex incase of rain. The second room we used to display the journal and project photos. We also set up an area for people to add to the journal. In the hallway we put out tables for people to color pictures.
We lined up all the panels in order so people could see the whole picture together. It was the first time for the team to see the project as one - Man it does look great :)
The crowd gathered and everyone got ready to be entertained.
Dr. Fawcett took a few moments to welcome everyone and introduce the day, the events and the mosaic. Then the music students entertained us with their much practiced pieces. Fun to finally hear them play all the music we have been listening to them practice in the annex for the past few months.
Lots of our community came out to celebrate our great project. The city of Victoria's Gail Price-Douglas came and gave us the Ol' thumbs up on the project. MLA Rob Fleming came by and graced the space. Students, parents, staff, neighbours and community all came together to celebrate our Community Unity experience.
It was a great afternoon of buzzing activity. Community Journaled Too: "Alas the day has come where we can show the community what our mosaic has become in all its fullness and beauty. While we still have a few tiles to place and the final step of grouting to take care of, we are all so proud of what we have accomplished- something that will last a lifetime and more - a "mark: we've left at Quadra" anonymous Team member
